Professional Development

We have been facilitating Bush School for over 10 years under the ethos of “sharing what has been shared to me”.

 

It is my desire to share with teachers the joy and benefits of outdoor play with teachers and students and bringing Bush School to a wider audience.

Professional Development Courses

Our Professional Development course can be mapped through our philosophy, to The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

  • Know students and how they learn

  • Know the content and how to teach it

  • Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning

  • Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments

  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning

  • Engage in professional learning

  • Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community

You will gain a practical understanding of placing nature at the heart of learning, how to generate and follow site and risk assessments, the role of the educator in bringing nature connections philosophy to life, sensor games, bush craft skills and how connecting to nature contributes to wellbeing.

Our Philosophy

To encourage and inspire teachers to feel confident in the outdoors, through an innovative, long term, educational approach to outdoor play in a bush environment where individuals can shine.

We aim to create

We operate our Bush School Professional Development one day per week at Iluka Bluff during term time from 10am to 2pm. This is very much a practical day of a “living knowledge sharing.”

We hold public liability insurance, working with children police checks and an Eco pass license to operate in Bundjalung and Yuraygir National Parks.
